1) In Maximum Security, by Robert Muchamore, Dave, James, and his little sister have just been assigned a mission. Dave, James, and Lauren are CHERUB agents. CHERUB is a British spy agency that helps fight criminals around the world. Their mission is to go to a jail in Arizona, called Arizona Max. They are trying to free a prisoner, Curtis Oxford. Curtis is in jail at the age of fourteen, after shooting a clerk in the heart with a handgun, after the clerk had not given him the vodka he had asked for. Curtis shot the man, took the vodka, and went outside to look for a car. He shot a man and his girlfriend out of their car. He took the car and drove away. Police eventually caught him and pulled him over. He was drunk and the man he had shot in the store was caught on tape, so he was put in jail. Dave, James, and Lauren, are trying to free Curtis from jail, so the FBI, and CHERUB can find out some information about Curtis' mom. His mom, (Jane) is a worldwide arms dealer. She steals guns from all over the world, and sells guns all over the world. They have no information about Jane, so if they release Curtis, maybe they can capture him and find out more information about Jane. Dave, James, and Lauren just arrived in Arizona, and have a few days until they have to move into the jail. So, their mission controller John Jones wants them to practice driving for when they escape. Dave, James, and Lauren are about to get into a car for practice.
2) So far, I am really enjoying the book. The CHERUB series is the best or second best series I have read. I love the action that happens in every chapter. The main characters in this book, Dave, James and Lauren are always keeping me entertained. Its either James with his jokes, ninja moves or getting into trouble. Dave is one of the most popular guys on the CHERUB campus, so he is always keeping James under control to not blow one of the biggest missions he has ever been on. Dave is always at James side protecting him, and making sure he is never hurt. Lauren, James little brother, is always making fun of James and is more mature than what her age tells her. She knows when to say things, when to be funny, and when to take action, after all that she has been through in he life. Along with the characters, I love the plot of the book. The plot of the book is that James is on a mission to catch a worldwide arms dealer. The plot is constantly changing, and I really enjoy that, because I never am bored. The author makes the characters and the plot of the book, so good by pulling us into the book. The way he describes the situations with so much detail, but with such simplicity is fantastic. His writing is amazing. The only thing I would want him to improve on is his grammar. There are multiple grammatical mistakes that I catch when I am reading. He should hire a good editor for his next book. But overall, the book is really good. I can't wait to finish this one, and start the next book in the series.
3) The theme in this book is betrayal. The theme is betrayal because when James was practicing driving, for the mission, he broke Dave's trust. When you break someone's trust, you are betraying them. When James betrayed Dave, he was driving a car for practice. James was going way to fast, and Dave told him to slow down. James didn't take Dave's advice. James then realized that he should slow down, and that he was on a country road with cars that came by. In the next three seconds, a car did come around the corner, and James and the other car had to swerve to avoid each other. James then crashed the car into a ditch. Dave was furious, and James knew it was going to take a lot to gain Dave's trust back. To make the mission successful, James will have to gain Dave's trust back.
4) My favorite character in the book is James. James is my favorite character, because he is funny, always doing something worth reading about, and he is he thinks ahead of everybody else. James is always a step ahead, of everybody, and can sometimes anticipate what is going to happen next. He is not very coordinated, and he doesn't have great fighting skills, but he uses his brain. He has good common sense, and puts it to good use. In most books I read, they are good, but they only have one good part and the rest is used for building up to that point, or climax. In the CHERUB series, the books are never boring there is always something going on, and James usually has a big part in what is happening because he is the main character. His actions usually get other things rolling. James also had a good sense of humor. He is also one of those people who know when to be funny, and when not to be funny. He knows when he has overdone it. But when Jams is funny he is really funny. James is a good all-around character who makes the story great.
5) My least favorite character is Stanley. Stanley is one of the people that is in the Arizona Max jail. He is very fat, and is always beating kids up for their money because it is so scarce in jail. Stanley and his brother Raymond started to pick on a kid. James was helping one of the kids read his commissary. The commissary is something that a form that has things on it that you can buy. James was reading what the things were to the kid, when Stanley, and Raymond approached him. Stanley was asking for the money, and James refused to give it to him. Stanley then attacked James, and Dave came over to help. After the fight, Raymond needed to be carted off to the hospital. Stanley was mad, so he came back for revenge. When James was coming out of the bathroom, Stanley attacked him James fought him off, but Stanley had a big knife. James called for help, but nobody came. I haven't finished the rest, but I am excited to see what happens next. James knows he injured his brother, but it was out of self-defense, after Raymond, and Stanley attacked him before. So it was all Stanley's fault, and now he is beating up James for something he did, but didn't do it intentionally. Since Stanley is so mean, I don't like him, and he is my least favorite character.
6)I think that James and Dave will get accustomed to the Arizona Max jail. Dave, James and Lauren will fulfill the mission and successfully get Curtis to escape from jail, with a few bumps along the way. I am making this prediction on the fact that Dave, James and Lauren have a lot of background information, and that they are mentally and physically strong enough to do it. So far in the book, Dave, has showed to be the leader out of the three kids. I think Dave will be strong and confident enough to lead Curtis out of jail and into the arms of the FBI. The author has guided me to my prediction, because in the previous books, they have all started out the same way. The characters go on the mission, and then they start out a little bumpy. They find out some information, and then really get into the thick of it.    Then, it looks like they are in a vary bad situation, and area going to die or get injured. Then in the end they come out of it ok. I think that something similar will happen in this book.
